Goodbye, plastic straws. Hello, paper straws.
In July 2021, SunRype proudly announced the replacement of plastic straws with bendable paper straws on our 200mL single-serve beverage lineup, just in time for the Back-to-School season. These bendable paper straws are made from FSC-certified paper. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification is a global standard for responsible and equitable management of forests. SunRype’s 200mL multi-layered Tetra Pak product containers are recyclable, so consumers can now feel confident they are making a more sustainable and environmentally friendly choice.
At SunRype, we are making it a priority to stay ahead of the curve in finding environmentally friendly alternatives. Along with implementing an alternative to plastic straws for our 200mL juice containers below are a few more of our sustainable development objectives:
- Introduce 50% recycled content in our PET packaging (by 2025).
- Use recyclable packaging for all our products (by 2025).
- Reduce quantity of water used in our direct operations.
- Reduce waste generated by our plants and sent to landfill.
Goodness inside and out
We source the highest quality ingredients from around the world. This allows us to incorporate flavours like mangoes, pineapples and pomegranates that are not available in Canada, and to ensure that your favourite SunRype drinks and snacks are available year-round.
We recognize the importance of sustainable practices for the well-being of our customers and environment, and we are commited to sourcing packaging solutions that are better for our planet.
Not from concentrate apples
SunRype Pure Not From Concentrate Apple Juice is our signature pressed apple juice made with real, quality apples grown in North America. Our primary source for apples is right at home in the Okanagan Valley, BC.
Our very high standards
SunRype adheres to the highest quality standards in all of our manufacturing and quality assurance practices. We strictly follow all guidelines established by Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
In 2002, we implemented and received CFIA recognition for a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) program, an internationally recognized food safety management system. This means we are regularly audited by the CFIA to ensure compliance with all aspects of the program.
We voluntarily chose to obtain HACCP recognition to further strengthen our own food safety practices. It’s our way of assuring that all of our products meet the very highest quality and safety standards before they can wear the SunRype label.
Now SunRype works within a world class food safety management system called SQF 2000. The Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program is a rigorous and credible food safety and quality program that is recognized by retailers, brand owners, and food service providers world-wide. Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)It’s one of only a handful of globally recognized food safety programs. This certification includes the HACCP system and many other food safety programs.

In addition, SunRype implements ongoing audits, testing, inspection, in-house and third party analysis and evaluation of all raw materials that go into our products.
